Description Doormat localhost ::1
Who would have thought at the invention of the Internet that one day there would actually be a need for more than 4,294,967,296 (= more than 4 billion!) IP addresses? Obviously no one - and then suddenly there was the problem that parts of Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia were about to run out... who comes too late... ;)
But since it would be considered mental cruelty to exclude the poor Asians and Eastern Europeans from the Internet Protocol, a simple but efficient solution was devised:
IPv4 became IPv6 - so there are many more places available to generate IPs :) However, this also changes the address of your beloved computer on the network: From localhost 127.0.0.1 it becomes localhost ::1 :)
So that you always know where your home is and so that you always hit the right apartment door even in less rational states, we have printed the home address of your best piece on a doormat: Because home is always where the computer is :)
